Ballon d'Or 2026: Mbappé beaten by Kane, according to the press
According to Foot Mercato, Kylian Mbappé was close to winning the 2026 Ballon d'Or, ultimately awarded to Harry Kane.
Kylian Mbappé, present at the 2026 Ballon d'Or ceremony, saw Harry Kane snatch the trophy from him, reports Foot Mercato. The Bondynois, who did not win the prize, was however close to victory. According to Foot Mercato, he said: "I have always had the idea that the Ballon (…)".
L'Équipe, for its part, mentions an evening marked by growing hope for Mbappé before the embrace with the winner.
