Serbian coach contests penalty awarded to the Netherlands

According to several Dutch media outlets, Serbia coach Veljko Paunovic is contesting the penalty awarded to the Netherlands in his team's defeat on Sunday.

Serbia lost at home to the Netherlands on Sunday evening, and their coach Veljko Paunovic is contesting the decision of referee Szymon Marciniak. According to Voetbal International, Paunovic believes the Dutch were given a helping hand by the referee. According to Voetbalnieuws, he thinks the penalty awarded to Oranje was given "far too easily". Mexx Meerdink converted the spot kick, giving the visitors a 0-1 advantage.

Serbian media, cited by De Telegraaf, speak of trauma after this defeat. NU.nl reports that the Serbian coach said: "We were wronged". Voetbalzone also headlines on Serbian anger, with the same feeling of injustice.
