Pedro announces retirement from professional football

Pedro has announced his retirement from professional football. The Spanish forward has published a message on social media, in which he explains that he feels the time has come to bring his career to an end.

An emotional announcement

In a moving video filmed at the Camp Nou, Pedro thanked football for the happiness it has brought him. "Sento che è il momento. Grazie per avermi reso così felice," he wrote, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport. Il Corriere dello Sport reports similar words: "Grazie calcio per avermi reso così felice. L'Italia mi ha toccato il cuore." The player also mentioned a special memory involving Lazio, without providing further details.

A decision confirmed by several media outlets

TuttoMercatoWeb reports that Pedro will no longer play, while Calciomercato.com mentions an official announcement. The four sources agree on the essentials: the player has chosen to hang up his boots. The Italian media all highlight the player's attachment to Italy, where he spent several seasons.

A tribute at Camp Nou

The choice of Camp Nou for this announcement is no coincidence. It was at this stadium that Pedro enjoyed his finest years, with FC Barcelona, even if the report does not detail his trophy haul. The player wanted to thank football for everything it has given him, in a sober and grateful message.

Pedro's career thus comes to an end, after notable spells in Spain and Italy. Tributes are expected to multiply in the coming days, although no official reaction has yet been reported by the sources.
