Maxence Lacroix was forced off with an injury during Chelsea's League Cup match against Liverpool on Wednesday evening, according to RMC Sport and L'Équipe.

Foot National reports that the French centre-back, who started the match, left the pitch before half-time after picking up a thigh injury. Foot Mercato describes the news as very bad for both Chelsea and the France national team.

The injury comes just over a week before the next France squad is announced, notes L'Équipe. The severity of the injury has not yet been confirmed.
