Ahead of the Champions League meeting between AS Roma and Real Madrid, Gasperini aimed a dig at Mourinho. According to RMC Sport, the Roma coach said his counterpart's talent lies in "convincing clubs to spend considerable sums." Tuttosport reports similar remarks, with Gasperini saying in a press conference that he envies Mourinho's ability to make clubs spend on big players.

Mourinho, for his part, responded, according to Calciomercato.com, that he respects Gasperini but envies him nothing. He also mentioned Endrick, saying the player "is going nowhere" and "will explode at Real Madrid," according to TuttoMercatoWeb.
