Complaint filed in June
According to Foot Mercato, the complaint was filed last June. The Catalan club reproaches Florentino Perez for making statements deemed defamatory. Several media outlets, including RMC Sport and L’Équipe, report that the executives of both clubs have been summoned before a Madrid court. A hearing is scheduled for November 25, Tuttosport notes.
If Florentino Perez does not retract his statements, he will have to appear in court, 20minutos indicates. The Real Madrid president would then be heard as part of this defamation complaint.
Case concerning statements about referees
According to ANSA, the accusations concern remarks about referees. FC Barcelona believes that Florentino Perez’s statements cause it harm. Spanish media ABC and Libertad Digital also mention the “Negreira case,” without providing further details.
For now, Florentino Perez has not reacted publicly. The legal proceedings will have to determine whether his remarks constitute defamation.
