David Silva has come out of retirement at 40 to play for Supreme Sha Tin, a club recently promoted to Hong Kong's first division, according to Gazeta Esportiva. The Spanish midfielder had been off the pitch since 2023 when he suffered a serious knee injury during his time at Real Sociedad.
Gazeta Esportiva, which does not specify a club for his return that would confirm the Hong Kong move, instead notes that Silva retired after the end of the 2022/23 season while at Real Sociedad. The Independent recalls his decade-long stint at Manchester City, and BBC Sport reports that the former City player has ended his retirement.
