Champions League: Davide Ancelotti wants Lille to play without losing their identity

On the eve of the Champions League match between Arsenal and Lille, scheduled at the Emirates Stadium, Lille coach Davide Ancelotti spoke to the media. According to L'Équipe, he notably said he wanted to "play without losing our identity." The coach also spoke to Sky Sport, as reported by TuttoMercatoWeb, commenting on the London pitch: "Bel biliardo questo campo, non è male."

A return to his roots for Ancelotti

According to Corriere dello Sport, this match has a special flavour for Davide Ancelotti, who "ritrova i suoi 'brasiliani'" (finds his "Brazilians" again). The Italian daily highlights that the son of Carlo Ancelotti, nicknamed "King Carlo," approaches this clash with satisfaction. The Lille club, led by the young coach, indeed faces an Arsenal side that must cope with several absences.

Arsenal weakened by injuries

Corriere dello Sport reports that Arteta, Arsenal's coach, is forced to "spremere i titolari" (rotate the starters) due to injuries to Hincapié and Zubimendi. These two players are thus missing for this match in the highest European competition. This situation could offer opportunities for Lille, even though the English club remains formidable at home.

Giroud ready for a special evening

TuttoMercatoWeb also reports Davide Ancelotti's comments about Giroud, Lille's striker. According to the Italian site, the coach said: "Giroud pronto, spero sia una serata speciale" (Giroud is ready, I hope it will be a special evening). This statement, made on the touchline at the Emirates, suggests that the former Arsenal player could play a significant role in this match.

The meeting between Arsenal and Lille thus promises to be a major test for both teams, between a depleted London club and a Lille side determined to play their hand to the full.
