Celtic and Rangers have both lodged appeals against the decision to play their matches behind closed doors, following crowd trouble during their Scottish Cup meeting at Ibrox last season. The sanctions were imposed after the incidents, which marred the fixture.

According to The Independent, the two clubs are contesting the punishment. BBC Sport reports that both Celtic and Rangers are challenging the closed doors sanctions, while Sky Sports adds that the appeal concerns the stadium closure imposed after the fan trouble.

The appeals will be heard in due course, with the clubs seeking to overturn the restrictions.
