Arda Turan tipped to succeed Montella as Turkey head coach
According to several Turkish media outlets, Arda Turan is the leading candidate to replace Vincenzo Montella at the helm of the Turkish national team, but Shakhtar Donetsk are not willing to release him.
After the Turkish national team's disappointing results in the 2026 World Cup and Nations League A, Vincenzo Montella is expected to leave his post, reports Sözcü. According to the Turkish daily, Arda Turan, currently coach of Shakhtar Donetsk, is tipped to succeed him while also keeping his club role.
Hürriyet Spor cites information from the Italian press that Arda Turan would take charge of the national team after Montella. Ajansspor claims that the Turkish Football Federation has made contact with the coach, but the Ukrainian club is not in favour of his departure. A Spor indicates that Arda Turan is the number one candidate for the Turkish officials.
