Alfred Schreuder appointed Kasımpaşa coach after spell with Germany
Alfred Schreuder is the new coach of Kasımpaşa, the Turkish club announced on Wednesday evening, according to Voetbalprimeur. He has signed a contract until the end of the season.
Alfred Schreuder has found a new challenge. The Dutch coach is set to join Turkish club Kasımpaşa, where he has signed a contract until the end of the season, reports Voetbalnieuws. He thus returns as head coach after recently being active with the German national team.
Arrival confirmed by the club
The Turkish side officially confirmed the arrival of the Dutchman on Wednesday evening, according to Voetbalprimeur. Reports had initially circulated that Schreuder could have taken on a technical director role, but it turns out he will indeed become coach in Turkey.
A designated successor
According to Turkish journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu, cited by Soccernews, Kasımpaşa wanted to present Schreuder as the successor to Emre Belezoglu, who left the club this week to join Fenerbahçe. The Dutchman, a former Ajax player, could thus quickly take on the number one role on the bench.
A return after the World Cup
This appointment comes after Schreuder's stint with Germany during the World Cup, as Voetbalzone points out. The coach will therefore return to a head coach position, a role he had not held since his last club experiences.
